The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy, Shostka, Konotop, and Okhtyrka districts.<\/p>\n<p>The enemy used nearly 20 guided aerial bomb (KAB) strikes, 10 MLRS attacks, more than 20 UAV strikes, and carried out FPV drone strikes on the territory of the Sumy region.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of Russian shelling of the region, civilians were injured:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Hlukhiv community, a 54-year-old man was injured by an FPV drone strike;<\/li>\n<li>In the Konotop community, a 79-year-old man was injured as a result of a UAV attack;<\/li>\n<li>In the Velyka Pysarivka community, a 36-year-old man was injured due to a VOG grenade drop from a UAV;<\/li>\n<li>In the Putyvl community, a 46-year-old woman was injured by an FPV drone attack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in the Konotop community, civilian infrastructure facilities and a non-residential building were damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Hlukhiv community, a private household was damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Sumy community, a multi-storey residential building, civilian infrastructure facilities, an administrative building, and a non-residential building were damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Velyka Pysarivka community, a private vehicle was damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Vorozhba community, a non-residential building was damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Sadiv community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Bilopillia community, a medical facility was damaged;<\/li>\n<li>in the Shostka community, a residential building was damaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Evacuation<\/h3>\n<p>Over the course of the day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organizations, evacuated 12 people from border communities.<\/p>\n<h3>Days of Mourning<\/h3>\n<p>Days of mourning were declared in the Krasnopillia community for a murdered family. As a result of a nighttime enemy drone attack on a residential building in the village of Chernechchyna on September 30, the parents and their two young sons were killed. The woman was five months pregnant and expecting twins. This is a horrific crime, and everyone responsible must be brought to justice.<\/p>\n<h3>Holiday<\/h3>\n<p>October 1 is the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine. This holiday has deep historical roots \u2014 it is associated with the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God, the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks, and the creation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Sumy region, together with all of Ukraine, has been holding the line every day. Thanks to the courage of our warriors, we stood firm then and continue to stand today.<\/p>\n<p>In Sumy, the memory of the defenders was honored with a minute of silence: on October 1, a solemn minute of silence took place at one of the busiest intersections in the city center as a sign of respect for those who gave their lives for the independence and freedom of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Also on October 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree awarding the honorary title \u201cHero City of Ukraine\u201d to 16 more cities in seven regions. Among them are our Sumy and Trostianets. This is recognition of the heroism, resilience, and courage of our communities, which stood up to defend the state in the first hours of the full-scale invasion and continue to withstand the blows.<\/p>\n<p>Sumy is a border regional center that the enemy attempted to capture from the very first days, but the city held out thanks to the unity of residents and the military. Trostianets is one of the most affected cities in the region, which was under occupation for a month but became a symbol of resilience and prevented the enemy from advancing further.<\/p>\n<p>This title is not only a symbol, but also additional opportunities for the development and recovery of our cities.<\/p>\n<h3>Support for Education<\/h3>\n<p>The Popivka, Andriiashevka, Buryn, Bezdrik, and Romny communities received modern school buses for the organized and safe transportation of children to educational institutions. Currently, 310 school buses operate in the region, including 24 specialized buses for transporting children with special educational needs.<\/p>\n<h3>Culture<\/h3>\n<p>On the occasion of the All-Ukrainian Library Day, the Sumy Book Forum 2025 was held at the Sumy Regional Universal Scientific Library under the slogan \u201cLibrary: Preserving the Future Together.\u201d The event brought together representatives of authorities, the public, writers, and the library community.
