On May 24, musician, performer, producer, and successful businessman DOROSH visited Sumy with a new concert program. In his songs, most of which he has written himself, he shares his personal experience, life values, and things that resonate with many people. His voice easily wins over women\u2019s hearts, as his music is filled with sincerity of the soul. The hits \u201cResnytsamy\u201d and \u201cSerdtse Tantsiuie\u201d are played on leading radio stations in Ukraine. By the way, Nadiia Meikher starred in the music video for the song \u201cResnytsamy.\u201d Before the concert, we had the opportunity to talk with the singer about creativity, love, and more.<\/p>\n

: Is this your first time in the city of Sumy?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I am not in Sumy for the first time. This is a wonderful city that I truly love. I often came here when I played volleyball and when my team, the sports club \u201cFavorit,\u201d was playing. I myself am from Novhorod-Siverskyi. This city is not far from Sumy. My small tour, which my musicians and I call a \u201clittle tour,\u201d started after the presidential elections in Ukraine. It is dedicated to love in the fullest sense of the word. We want to travel across Ukrainian cities, give 10 concerts, and bring people joy so they can take a break from all these battles.<\/p>\n

: How did your creative journey begin?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>My creativity began at birth.<\/p>\n

: Was it difficult to learn how to sing, or did everything work out right away?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I never, under any circumstances, position myself, nor have I ever positioned myself, as a professional singer. I am the author and performer of my own songs. People evaluate me as a singer and say that I sing quite well. But to achieve this, I approach my creativity systematically and constantly work on my vocals.<\/p>\n

: How do you manage to work in different fields at the same time\u2014do you have enough time for everything?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>If you properly structure and delegate responsibilities and have the right attitude toward your life, there is enough time for everything.<\/p>\n

: What is more difficult for you\u2014entrepreneurship or creativity?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>Both my creativity and entrepreneurship are equal areas of my activity and two components of one whole process that cannot exist without each other.<\/p>\n

: What do you like about rock music, and why did you choose this style for your songs?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>Unfortunately, I do not sing pure rock music; I sing pop-rock, although I would gladly perform rock. However, it does not find much response among listeners in Ukraine. We are not England or America, so this is not our music.<\/p>\n

: Where do you draw inspiration from? What inspires you?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I draw inspiration from the surrounding world, which inspires me.<\/p>\n

: Do listeners\u2019 impressions of your songs always correspond to the message you put into them?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>Honestly, I have never analyzed this or asked the audience about their impressions of my songs or compared them with the message I put into them, because every time I perform them, I find new shades in my songs myself.<\/p>\n

: Have you ever had funny or awkward situations during concerts?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>There have been many such cases. For example, a whole square of people gathered. I came out on stage, and suddenly all the equipment completely shut down. I did not lose my composure and, accompanied by a piano and without a microphone, performed songs live together with our music producer Oleksandr Chikalenko to cheer people up a bit while the equipment was being repaired. In general, there have been many such situations.<\/p>\n

: Do you have a hobby that you pursue besides creativity?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>Besides creativity, I simply enjoy life.<\/p>\n

: What are your plans for the future?
D.:<\/strong><\/em>My main plan for the future is to live and bring joy to people through my creativity.<\/p>\n

: How do you raise your children, and what principles do you instill in them?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I teach my children to be independent and to rely on themselves and their own strengths in life.<\/p>\n

: How do you see your children in the future\u2014will they be involved in creativity?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>The main thing is that I see my children as healthy. And also as patriots who live in Ukraine and love it. My son received his education in our country, and my daughter studies at the Lysenko School. She is a pianist and truly very talented\u2014not because she is Sofia Dorosh. She is now 10 years old and plays piano concertos with a symphony orchestra, performing works by Beethoven. Whether my children will pursue creativity in the future is their personal choice.<\/p>\n

: Do you like to travel, and what are your plans for the summer?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I love traveling immensely, especially tourism. We travel often, and when abroad, I drive myself, because in Ukraine I practically do not drive.<\/p>\n

: Which of your songs has the most interesting creation story?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>All songs are my children, so I cannot single out the most interesting creation story.<\/p>\n

: For which audience do you create your songs?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>In my songs, I talk about my life. It is similar to the lives of other people with its victories, defeats, and love. This is what unites all of us, and this is what I dedicate my songs to.<\/p>\n

: Are you often criticized, and how do you feel about it? Do colleagues criticize you?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I respect criticism very much and believe that we should all, without exception, treat it calmly, because, by and large, it is our friends who criticize us.<\/p>\n

: What music did you listen to in your childhood, and what repertoire shaped your musical tastes?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I grew up in the USSR, so in my childhood I listened to songs by Soviet composers, because my favorite rock band AC\/DC was banned from entering our country at that time.<\/p>\n

: Do you come from a musical family?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>Yes, I was very lucky. My mother has a musical education, and my father worked almost his entire life as the director of a House of Culture.<\/p>\n

: Have you ever wanted to participate in Eurovision?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I would gladly participate in Eurovision on the condition that the song is performed in Ukrainian. I believe it is a disgrace when our singers go out and sing not in their native language. This year, I specifically watched Eurovision because I was interested in this very issue. I was most impressed by those who sang in their native languages.<\/p>\n

: You are the author of many songs\u2014do you plan to publish a poetry collection?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I have released 6 albums and around 76 tracks. In my studio, there are about 100 more written songs that I do not have time to record. As for a poetry collection, as long as such a genius as Lina Kostenko is alive, I would never have the conscience to publish my own poems, because I am not a poet, and that is how my mother raised me.<\/p>\n

: Do your children also enjoy creativity?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I have already mentioned that my Sofia is exceptionally creative\u2014she plays with a symphony orchestra, tours, and performs concerts abroad. Among children her age, she is one of the best pianists in our country.<\/p>\n

: Do you have enough time for your family?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>My family is the most important thing in my life. It is the source that keeps me in this world. These are not just my mother, father, and children. It also includes my mother\u2019s four sisters. I have a huge family, and I never forget about it, about my native school in Novhorod-Siverskyi. And I always remember the things that give me the right to call myself Ukrainian.<\/p>\n

: What are you working on now?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>Currently, I am finishing writing the album \u201cWhere Are You?\u201d. The music video for this song has already been released. In the autumn, we plan to go on a tour around Ukraine. I have a great desire to perform and bring joy to people with my creativity while I still have the strength, as I am already 52 years old.<\/p>\n

: What emotions would you like to share with the people of Sumy?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>My task is to go on stage and give people happiness so that after the concert they leave better and kinder. This is my mission.<\/p>\n

: What would you like to wish the people of Sumy?
D.: <\/strong><\/em>I would like to wish the people of Sumy faith in themselves and that everyone, in their own place, builds our state and does not look for a better fate in other countries, because if we do not believe in our state, then it is clear that it will perish. For me, this would be the greatest tragedy.<\/p>\n
