“Zazhynok” Members Will Represent Sumy at the Meeting of Young Writers in Kharkiv
That day, as usual, I came to the regular meeting. Tamara Mykolaivna (Tamara Herasymenko, head of the studio — ed.) asked me right away: “How old are you?”. At first, it seemed that I had done something wrong :) At least, that is the association I get when I am asked such a question. However, it turned out that the point was quite different: the annual meeting of young writers is to be held in Kharkiv. Last year, I was also offered to attend it, and it was to take place in Lviv. But at that time, I did not have enough opportunities. This time, everything worked out for the trip, and besides, the meeting itself will take place about two hundred kilometers away. Правда, later the head of the Sumy Regional Organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, O. Vertil, explained that only representatives of Left-Bank Ukraine would gather in Kharkiv, while other participants would be expected in Ternopil.
Last year, Sumy was represented by the “Zazhynok” poet Tetiana Osipenko (Lyra). This time, it was decided to send me and our new participant Katia Buhera. What awaits us is not known for certain. There is already a program listing the events, including prose and poetry seminars, numerous performances (at cultural venues, libraries, and higher education institutions), and an excursion. It would seem that all this has happened before: performances at cultural venues, advice and criticism from professional writers. But such an intensive program over two days has not happened yet. And once again, the format is not fully known: how our works will be reviewed, what we will be taught, how and before whom we are to perform, and so on. However, in about a week, all the secrets will be revealed.
