Masters of high yields

Success in the crop production sector largely depends on the overall level of agronomic personnel, technological knowledge of crop cultivation with regard to zonal characteristics, and the ability of field technologists to introduce new, advanced methods and improvements into agricultural production. These are exactly the criteria that come to mind when speaking about the enterprise “Agrobusiness TSK”, which has chosen a full-cycle agricultural production strategy—from field to shelf—and therefore is one of the main suppliers of environmentally friendly products to the tables of residents of the Sumy region and confidently holds leading positions in Ukraine’s agro-industrial complex.

The enterprise is engaged in crop production, as well as processing, sales, and other types of economic activity. Today, in the fields located in the Nedryhailiv district, potatoes, beets, carrots, and cabbage are grown—that is, the entire “borsch set” dear to every Ukrainian. In 2014, 400 hectares were allocated for potatoes (350 hectares for table potatoes and 50 hectares for processing), while 10, 12, and 15 hectares were allocated for carrots, table beets, and cabbage respectively. Considerable attention is paid to the quality of the varieties grown in the fields of “Agrobusiness TSK.” Today, these are the best varieties from the Netherlands and Germany. In addition, the enterprise remains a leader in the cultivation of grain crops in the Nedryhailiv district. Continuous work is carried out here to increase yields and soil fertility, which is why stable good harvests are obtained every year. The strategy of natural farming chosen by the head of the enterprise, Hennadii SVIRSKYI, has fully justified itself and made it possible to create an enterprise in the Sumy region that meets European standards. In a short period of time, “Agrobusiness TSK” has become a successful example of a new approach to agricultural production and has demonstrated that even in our country it is possible to grow yields comparable to those in Israel and other countries of the world. Over the course of two years, LLC “Agrobusiness TSK” invested approximately UAH 84 million in the project, which was directed toward the construction of vegetable storage complexes, adjacent areas, main water pipelines, the purchase of agricultural machinery, and the creation of software solutions to optimize operations.

Step by step toward success

The company’s team has managed to modernize production in a qualitative way. In particular, modern energy-saving tillage, sowing, and harvesting machinery has been acquired for crop production.

Dry summers and climate warming will not affect the quality of the future harvest. Two years ago, an irrigation system for open-field vegetable cultivation was put into operation in the company’s fields. Irrigation was carried out using GLH sprinkler units with lengths of 400 and 550 meters, manufactured in the USA. Last year, two more irrigation units, each 425 meters long, were launched. This year, irrigation of potatoes is planned on an area of 400 hectares.

The company has no problems with sales either: the market economy makes it possible to sell everything that is harvested in the fields. “It is only necessary to monitor the quality of the harvest, and this condition we always fulfill perfectly,” assures the company’s head, Hennadii Svirskyi. First and foremost, vegetables grown in the fields of “Agrobusiness TSK” supply large retail chains such as ATB, Fozzy, and other supermarkets in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and other regions of Ukraine. This year, the enterprise plans to enter foreign sales markets in the European direction. All products of the enterprise are certified and undergo testing in Sumy laboratories. “For me, this is a matter of principle, because our products are consumed throughout the country, and competition is very strong,” notes Hennadii Svirskyi.

Currently, the enterprise is constructing and installing equipment for two production workshops for washing, polishing, and packaging potatoes and carrots into plastic bags, followed by automated film wrapping and stacking into technological pallets in another facility, from where the products under the “Agrobusiness TSK” trademark will be shipped to consumers.

By the way, the company’s management plans not only to grow vegetable and grain crops, but also berries and fruits. In the future, an orchard will appear here, and later—a processing plant where natural jams without colorants will be produced.

Local residents speak only positively about the enterprise, as social responsibility is one of the main priorities of “Agrobusiness TSK.” Today, the enterprise is the main employer for residents of surrounding villages. More than 200 workers are engaged in seasonal work at “Agrobusiness TSK.” A team works here under excellent working conditions, with wages paid on time and in full.
