Top 50–2019: Strength in Unity: Results of the Ranking of the Most Useful and Influential People of the Sumy Region and Their Achievements for 2019

The “Sumy Region. TOP-50” project was held for the first time in 2005. It was recognized by the IREX-U Media Representation as the best PR event in Ukraine. Since then, every year experts, journalists, readers, and Internet users traditionally determine the best, most useful, most successful, and most promising people of our region. This is a unique project that sums up the achievements of the Sumy community over a certain period. There are no analogues of the “TOP-50” ranking in the Sumy region.

This year we decided to choose unity as the theme of the ranking. This year’s “Top 50 Outstanding Personalities of the Sumy Region” ranking was held under the slogan “People and Deeds That Unite.” These are not just initiatives—these are real people who have made an important contribution to the development of modern society and were able to conquer new heights by uniting. After all, only together can one create an incredibly powerful product, implement an important cause, and open something new to this world. Therefore, throughout the year we monitored and tried to keep our finger on the pulse of the main changes. And today we talk about those who stand behind each of the important events for our city and region.

Traditionally, we selected the “Golden,” “Sports,” and “Green” tens. For the third year in a row, we have also included city medical professionals in our ranking. We have a “Medical Ten,” which includes the best pediatricians, therapists, and family doctors of the city. And all residents who signed declarations with these doctors helped us decide who became the best. The selection of the ten was based exclusively on the number of patients of each doctor.

This year, online voting also became no less important, determining three winners in the nominations “Golden Ten,” “Sports Ten,” and the actual TOP-50 list of people and deeds that unite. The exception was the “Green Ten,” since this year we selected the best students with academic achievements as nominees. So-called top achievers. And there were fifty of them on our list alone. However, as it turned out, it was very difficult for experts to determine only ten of the best. After all, each won olympiad and each victory in a competition is difficult to compare. That is why this year all ten winners of the online voting made it into the “Green Ten.” We are confident that there are far more such children than the nominees we gathered. As for the “Golden Ten,” this year’s winners are mostly new faces—those who had not previously made it into the ranking but, over a year of productive work, were able to earn their place in the “Golden Ten.”
And of course, it was not easy for our “Sports Ten” experts either, because, as always, representatives of the Sumy region achieved many victories in sports arenas of Ukraine and the world. Therefore, choosing the best was extremely difficult.
