“Friendly Circle – 2017” – a creative meeting of the newspaper “Panorama” with its readers

The traditional annual meeting evening of the newspaper “Panorama” with its readers took place on November 20 in the concert hall of the Sumy Regional Philharmonic. Despite it being Monday and the very unpleasant weather outside, the newspaper’s fans, as usual, filled the hall. People who have been reading their favorite newspaper for years came to see live those who write interesting materials, to communicate with the authors, and to share their feelings of affection and gratitude.

The hall felt friendly and cozy. Beautiful music was performed by the chamber classical music orchestra “Renaissance,” current and former newspaper staff read their works from the stage. There was a lot of poetry. The audience-readers enjoyed performances by poets Viktoriya Yevtushenko and Margarita Moskvicheva, the favorite of Sumy residents Solomon Slabozhensky (also known as Oleksii Sikorsky), while Andrii Polyakov recited exquisite lyrical poetry. Poetically “campaigning” for a newspaper subscription was Svetlana Gerenko, the owner of a sparkling humorous talent. A kind fairy tale about forest inhabitants was told by Sumy writer-storyteller Pavlo Parfin. Even the editor-in-chief of “Panorama,” the well-known Ukrainian prose writer Yevhenii Polozhii, turned out to be a poet and read his poems, Mayakovsky-style, with his hand tucked “into his wide trouser leg.”

The traditional prize draw took place (the prizes were books provided by the performing authors and the “Knyholiub” bookstore). Dozens of our guests did not leave empty-handed, taking prizes and gifts with them. And everyone left in a good mood.

Anna Korshunova, children’s writer: I have been reading the newspaper since its very first issue. I like the journalists’ working style. And I myself am a little involved (smiles), periodically publishing in the newspaper and gladly responding to such invitations to meet with the newspaper.

Alla Znakovska: I have been with “Panorama” since its very beginning. I cooperated with it when I was in public service, and I read it. I read it regularly and will continue to read it.

Eduard Yeremenko, formerly a host on Radio “Vsesvit”: I am not just a friend of the newspaper “Panorama,” I am its ally. Many years ago, Yevhenii Polozhii did a great thing—he opened Radio “Vsesvit” in Sumy. What great people worked there! And tonight’s evening is also a unique event. Yevhenii Polozhii invited such people, such poets, that I made a discovery for myself: it turns out I really like poetry.

Mykhailo Skordin: I have been reading the newspaper for 12 years. And I like everything about it. Depending on my mood, I can read it from the beginning, from the middle, or from the end—the main thing is that all the materials are interesting to me. And my friend and I even won prizes today. It’s nice!
