Top 50 – 2016: Results of the Ranking of the Most Useful and Influential People of the Sumy Region and Their Achievements for 2016

In 2016, our ranking returns to its established format—a magazine and a public presentation of the laureates. The organizing committee of the competition expresses gratitude for the great support from both its traditional partners and those who joined this year.
The editorial board of “Panorama” recognized ATO fighter Serhii Yushchenko from the city of Hlukhiv as the “Person of the Year.” Someone may ask a logical question: why him? What exactly did he do to bring glory to the Sumy region in Ukraine and the world? Our answer is this: if it were possible, we would recognize all ATO fighters and veterans as “People of the Year.” However, there must be only one winner. Sometimes it is a person who has individually achieved incredible success, and sometimes it is someone who reflects in their fate and actions the fates and actions of tens of thousands of people.
Serhii Yushchenko embodies all ATO veteran heroes. Thanks to his wedding at the Lviv Military Hospital, and to volunteers who shared the wedding photos of the newlyweds on social networks and in the media, Serhii became perhaps the most famous ATO fighter from the Sumy region. He has a severe injury, has undergone several surgeries, and still needs help and support. However, Serhii did not break down, did not submit to fate, but found inner and physical strength: he fell in love, got married, dreams of getting back on his feet and living a normal life.
This, in our opinion, is exactly what the country and people need now—not to break down, not to despair, not to submit to fate. Therefore, the example of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Serhii Yushchenko is unprecedented. And his award is an award and recognition of all, without exception, ATO fighters of the Sumy region who gave their health and lives so that people here, in the rear, could develop the country and build society. Therefore, we ask you to accept our choice with understanding and to support Serhii and his family.
Unfortunately, this year we had some difficulties in forming the list of TOP 50 nominees. We set the goal that the final list should include people who implemented their projects and achieved certain results precisely in the current year. As a result, not all laureates correspond to the stated principle—we simply did not find (for various reasons, including lack of information) such a number of independently implemented projects. However, despite the change in the expert course, the useful deeds that these socially valuable people have done and plan to do do not lose their significance.
The “Green,” “Golden,” and “Sports” tens, as always, delight with talents and achievements. This is exactly where there is never a shortage of nominees, where whole constellations of new names always shine! And therefore, new hopes as well.
