War with Russia

During the day, from the morning of October 2 to the morning of October 3, 2025, Russian troops carried out 35 shelling attacks on 19 settlements in 8 territorial communities of the region. The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts.

The enemy used more than 10 guided aerial bomb (KAB) strikes and carried out FPV drone strikes, MLRS attacks, a missile strike, and UAV strikes on the territory of the Sumy region.

As a result of an enemy missile attack in the Andriiashevka community that occurred on the morning of October 3, an 8-year-old child and two adults were injured. Medics provided assistance to the girl on site; hospitalization was not required. Two women also sought medical help with acute stress reactions. They were provided with the necessary assistance on site.

Objects of civilian infrastructure were damaged or destroyed:

  • in the Esman community, a private house was damaged;
  • in the Shostka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • in the Mykolaiv rural community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • in the Sumy community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • in the Andriiashevka community, private residential houses and outbuildings were damaged.

More details.

On Friday morning, a Russian missile struck a yard in the village of Hudymy in the Andriiashevka community. An outbuilding caught fire, and about 50 houses were damaged. Roofs and walls were destroyed, and windows were blown out. The house near the impact site was completely destroyed.

Evacuation

Over the course of the day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organizations, evacuated 4 people from border communities.

Home!

Yesterday, October 2, 185 of our defenders returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. One hundred eighty-three are privates and sergeants, and two are officers. They include servicemen of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service. Civilians are also returning together with the defenders — 20 of our people. All of them will certainly receive the necessary support. Ukrainian warriors were held in Mariupol and at “Azovstal”, and at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022 and are now finally home. Among those released from Russian captivity is 30-year-old Valerii Lozhechko from Konotop. We thank everyone who makes these exchanges possible. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have managed to bring home more than 7,000 of our people.

Children’s assistance to our Defenders

Children’s Music School No. 1 in the city of Sumy organized a fundraising campaign for one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Teachers, students, and parents took part in the fundraising. The purchased equipment has already been delivered to the frontline. The funds were used to purchase chainsaws, which are critically needed for building fortifications and engineering structures in combat conditions.
