The Best Programmers of Ukraine
The largest technical Microsoft conference in Ukraine, Microsoft SWIT-2012, took place in Kyiv. As part of the conference, a project presentation competition was held among teams participating in the global Imagine Cup 2012 contest in the Windows Metro Style App Challenge category (a competition of applications for the Windows 8 operating system). Two teams of young programmers from UABS of the NBU earned the right to compete in these prestigious contests.
The Metro Ukrainian Academy team presented the Baby’s Health application, aimed at improving childcare for young mothers. On his personal website (http://eversoft.pp.ua/), the team captain Volodymyr Akimenko, who has been an official Microsoft Student Partner since 2011, shared his impressions: “It now seems to me as if I spent those two days abroad: everything was so polished, grand, stylish, and tasteful that it is hard to believe something like this is possible in Ukraine. However, it happened here, in Kyiv, and this event was organized by Microsoft Ukraine, for which many thanks to its staff.”
The best application was recognized as “eFarmer,” developed and presented by members of another UABS of the NBU team — “UABTeam,” which included third-year students of the “Economic Cybernetics” specialty Ivan Holub, Dmytro Khorolenko, and Volodymyr Melnyk, as well as master’s student of the “Banking” specialty Ihor Lisiutin. Their application provides farmers with recommendations on the rational use of soil and effective management of arable land.
The project supervisor, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics Vladyslav Dombrovskyi, expressed satisfaction with the achieved results. “Our students have once again proven that the Ukrainian Academy of Banking prepares not only excellent specialists in the credit and financial sphere, but also highly qualified programmers,” commented Vladyslav Serhiiovych.
